Overview
The Department of Gastroenterology at BAMTH manages diseases of the digestive system, including the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Our gastroenterologists are equipped with modern endoscopic tools to provide both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hiatus hernia
- Peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal)
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) — Crohn's and ulcerative colitis
- Acute and chronic diarrhoea
- Constipation and anorectal disorders
- Liver diseases — hepatitis B & C, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
- Jaundice — investigation and management
- Gallbladder disease — gallstones and cholecystitis (in coordination with Surgery)
- Pancreatitis — acute and chronic
- Gastrointestinal bleeding — upper and lower
- Colon polyps and colorectal cancer screening
- Malabsorption and nutritional deficiencies

- Upper GI endoscopy (OGD) — diagnostic and therapeutic
- Colonoscopy — diagnostic and polypectomy
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
- Endoscopic variceal banding and sclerotherapy
- Endoscopic haemostasis for GI bleeding
- Liver biopsy
- Abdominal ultrasound (in cooperation with Radiology)
- H. pylori testing and eradication
